Residential Child Care Worker

Fife, Dundee & Angus, West Lothian, Dumfries & Galloway and Scotland’s Central Belt

Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people?

Care Visions has an exciting opportunity for residential child care workers to join our dedicated care teams across Scotland.

We are Scotland’s largest independent provider of residential care for children and young people and deliver high quality care using an innovative, trauma-informed and nurturing approach. Our goal is to help improve outcomes for children and young people in our care by empowering them to recover from adversity and supporting them to lead fulfilling lives.

As a residential child care worker, you will play an essential role in caring for our young people in one of our small and nurturing, homely environments. Shift work and regular sleepovers are a vital part of the role, and provide a great opportunity for a good work/life balance. You must be able to demonstrate a “can-do” attitude and be driven to go the extra mile. Working in a positive and respectful manner, you will provide individualised care through the development of professional and effective relationships.

Working with the Sanctuary Model, our residential care teams offer a creative, trauma-informed perspective to the way we work. You will be expected to participate actively in many facets of young people’s lives from their care plans to social, recreational and educational activities.

Care Visions will consider candidates that have:

  • Relevant experience, working with young people or in other social care settings
  • Qualifications in social work or care such as SVQ3 Level 3 Children and Young People, HNC in Social Care, Diploma in Social Work or equivalent
  • A valid driving licence (manual) and access to a vehicle. If you do not have a driver’s licence your application will not be successful.

Please note this position is subject to a PVG check.

In return, Care Visions provides the following benefits to employees:

  • Support to undertake qualifications and continuous professional development opportunities
  • A competitive salary package
  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Sleepover payments
  • Retail and leisure discount programme
  • Childcare vouchers

A Word From Our Staff

I find this job extremely rewarding. I really enjoy spending time with our young people and helping them to create happy memories. No two days are the same, I am challenged every day at work. I am faced with extreme behaviour at times and I am grateful that I have the comprehensive training on how to de-escalate a variety of situations. There is a strong support network in place at Care Visions, and my colleagues all share the same sense of purpose and determination that ensures our young people are at the heart of everything we do.
