Professional Talk: Therapeutic Care Beyond the Therapy Room: Everyday Moments That Heal with Professor Ruth Emond
Humphrey Hawksley speaks with Ruth Emond, senior lecturer at the University of Stirling, social worker and play therapist. Ruth shares how everyday experiences — from routines and friendships to food and shared meals — can play a vital role in the recovery and development of children looked after away from home.
Ruth draws on her research, her co-authored book A Guide to Therapeutic Child Care, and her direct work with children through Family Change to show why small, ordinary interactions often matter as much as formal therapy.
