One of our young people tells us about their experience of living in one of our residential care houses.

Hi, I’m 16 years of age. I’ve lived at Cowdenlaws for 8 months. I was new to being in residential care and was previously in a foster placement but only for a few weeks. Cowdenlaws has helped me to do well and staff support me with the skills I need. I have good relationships with staff and can talk to them when and if I need them. I have made a good friendship with one of the other young people in the house. We have similar interests and I enjoy going on activities with him.

My favourite thing about Cowdenlaws is the staff because they are decent, I get on really well with them, I can trust them and feel I can talk to them about stuff.

I Love taking part in activities with staff and young people in and out with Cowdenlaws such as playing pool, going to a trampoline park and having movie nights in the house. I also enjoyed going to the Care Visions annual young people’s event which was held at Blair Drummond safari. I have opportunities to have my own space and do my own thing when I like.

My best Memory since staying at Cowdenlaws is when we went on holiday to see the F1 racing at Silverstone with my two key workers this year. My favourite part of my holiday was when we saw the F1 drivers, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and Valtery Bottas. I also enjoyed the atmosphere of all the different things going on and checking out the cool cars.
